For 2010 Red Sands Radio will  again broadcast  to local listeners on 87.7 mHz FM  within the Faversham/Whitstable/Herne Bay Coastal area and Online to other parts of the UK and the World via our RedSandsRadio.co.uk website from 3rd July to 30th July 2010

 

In 2009 Red Sands Radio attracted 1000’s of ‘Local’ terrestrial listeners and heard extensively throughout the Coastal Towns OF Whitstable & Herne  Bay. Astoundingly our RedSandsRadio.co.uk website recorded 475,119 hits with 12,340 visitors listening and viewing 114,219 pages from 30 countries worldwide.

In 2010 our website recorded 591,847 hits with 14,879 visitors listening and viewing 132,054 pages from 49 countries worldwide.

Whitstable Harbour Association who are they?

 The West Family, Wiz Cunningham, Roland Joint, Whitstable & District Angling Society & Bob Le-Roi

They organise the Whitstable Harbour Day which this year will be on 14th August 2010.

The people behind the event are Jean West whose family have been working at Whitstable Harbour for five generations

Vowing to never marry a fisherman Jean broke her vow when she walked out with Derek, now family head of West Whelks at the fisherman’s huts on the West Quay.

Wiz Cunningham, a well know licensee, once ran the old Punch Tavern, now the Quay Side. Part of the Oyster Festival logistics team for 5 years, Wiz is a well known colourful town character.

Roland Joint is Chairman of the Whitstable & District Angling Society, housed in the old Steam Packet, once watering hole for passengers & staff from the Crab & Winkle line that ran between Whitstable Harbour and  Canterbury West Station

Bob Le - Roi Compare of Whitstable Harbour Day, began his broadcasting career on Radio City on the WWII Sea Forts, readily seen from the Whitstable shoreline. He’s started Red Sands Radio in 2007.
